Day 3

The third day of the route perfectly expresses the concept of sport tourism, offering the opportunity to enjoy one of the most emblematic places of Catalonia combined with a challenging mountain climb.

The day starts after a full breakfast at the hotel, and consists of a route of 85km round trip with 1700 meters of accumulated ascent.

The profile of the route is ascending, reaching maximum difficulty at the height of Monistrol de Montserrat, starting point of the pass.

This climb lasts for 10km and its average percentage of gradient is 7%, reaching levels close to 15% on its final ramps.

Montserrat is one of the most recognised tourist spots in Catalonia, being visited every year by thousands of people. The ideal time of arrival would be before 12:00 hours to enjoy  the "Escolania de Montserrat" that sings the Salve and the Virolai (not guaranteed in all groups, since sometimes the Escolania is off due to religious reasons).

Once at the top we will have time to admire the architectural beauty of the monastery, and enjoy the beautiful scenery that surrounds this emblematic place.

Its 50 km route does not present great  difficulties, since it passes through secondary roads that cross the vineyards, and attractive wooded lands.

We will cycle along roads that cross the Sierra de Montmell-Marmellar, characterised by limestone formations, and defining the border between Penedès and Alt Penedès.
