More than 15,000 people enjoy the Buff Mountain Festival

For the second consecutive year, the Vall de Boí enjoyed a weekend full of activities with the Buff Mountain Festival. The event was a great success, with a wide range of competitions between Saturday and Sunday.

At 6:00 am on Saturday morning, and in a light mist, the 65-kilometer race began. Andreu Simon was the fastest with a time of 9 hours and 2 minutes, Raúl Butaci was second and Gerard Morales, third. In the women's category, the winner was Tina Bes, followed by Roser Español and Manuela Vilaseca.

Two hours later, at 8:00 am, 650 runners started the 26-kilometer race. Zack Miller, with a time of less than 3 hours, took the first place, as expected, ahead of Fernando López and Juan Javier Jiménez. In the feminine section, Anna Carné was first; Ester Casajuana, second; while the third place went to Aïda Pérez.

The first race on Sunday, the 42-kilometer, was a huge success, with more than 600 participants. At 8:00 am in the morning the starter pistol fired for this race that is part of the Skyrunners World Series and that passed places such as Taüll, Caldes de Boí and the peak of Comaminyana, amongst others. With a time of just under 4 and a half hours, Marco Pinsanch was the winner, followed by Finlay Wild and Miguel Caballero. In the women's category, the American Holly Page was the winner, Oihana Azkorbebetia, second; and María Mercedes Pila, third.

 At 9:00 am in the morning, the last race of the Buff Mountain Festival began, of 11 kilometers and with a circular route through the lower area of ​​the Boí Valley. Quim Costa was the winner, followed by Loic Robert and Manuel Méndez. In the female classes, Stevie Kremer defeated Inma Boada and Bianca Barquet, second and third, respectively.

 

In addition, the Buff Mountain Festival was home to other activities during the weekend, such as the Catalan Climbing Championship in bouldering and the Scott Marathon Cup, 35Km and 56Km of MTB.
