Challenge Madrid 2019 took place this past weekend in the capital of Spain with a success of participation. More than 1,000 triathletes participated in the HALF and FULL modalities in a magnificent and demanding circuit.
In the FULL mode Víctor del Corral and Lisa Roberts were the winners on a day with rain before the start. In the men's section, Pablo Dapena managed to get out first of the water with a minute of advantage in T1 over Pacillo and 05:30 on Ejeda. 10 minutes left Passuello, Del Corral and Nadal (the 3 who went on the podium). But bad luck turned over Dapena and Ejeda, who had to leave the competition in the first 5 km of the bike circuit. Shortly afterwards, 2018 champion Van Houten also said goodbye for a fall.
After the 180 km Víctor del Corral the bike circuit ended, followed by Domenico Passuello and Joan Nadal. Del Corral suffered some stretch of running but I reinforced his leadership at the goal located at the Puerta del Sol in Madrid with a time of 8:52:48. Nadal entered second at 7:32 for the champion while Domenico Passuello was third at 14:38.
In the female category, Lisa Roberts will go through all the challenge in Madrid. Everything out of the water at 2:05 away from Verena Walter and Miriam Van Reijen, is to first place in the 80th kilometer of the cycling tram, reaching the only T2. In the Marathon Roberts will fly a good pace and will be imposed with a final time of 9:54:56. A 18:25 will enter Van Reijen, while Verena Walter will be third in more than 20 minutes.
In the HALF modality Pello Osoro he was dominated by a masculine category with a great command. After a great partial cycling triathlete began the half marathon with 9 minutes to Ariel Hernandez. Finally, Pello Osoro won the competition with a time of 4:09:10, with 08:35 on Ariel Hernández, second. Javier Martín was third in more than 16 minutes.
In the female category, Rocío Escudero was the winner after the disqualification of Eva Valero. Escudero got the win with a time of 5:25:31, with 4:04 on Marta Horrillo and 08:12 in Covadonga Parrondo.
